Hatch Labs Fundraiser

It is so wonderful when the community comes together to help a noble cause. Recently, I had the opportunity to be a part of a fundraiser for Hatch Labs in Reno. Hatch Labs is a nonprofit entity that provides software training and educational resources for photographers, videographers, designers and models. The fundraiser consisted on photographers donating their time and talent to provide family holiday mini sessions. The fundraiser took place at The Old Stone House in South Reno. Their Christmas tree lot and decorations served as a perfect backdrop for these mini sessions.

During the fundraiser, I got to hang out with other wonderful photographers for the whole day! It was so amazing to listen to anecdotes from other photographers and learn from their experiences as well as me sharing some of my experience. It was somewhat unfortunate that the day turned out to be colder than expected but if you live in the Reno area, you know that unexpected weather is what we have come to expect all year round.

Due the unfair weather, we did not have as many families to photograph as we would have hoped. But the families that came to donate and have their mini portrait session had a wonderful time and every photographer attending had a chance to photograph at least a couple of families. I had the pleasure to photograph two beautiful families. We had a great time and since every family was covered, we had some extra time to have fun! The individual portraits of the children definitely captured each every ones personality!

One of my favorite parts of a photo session is the little unscripted moments that happen between location changes or pose changes. Sometimes, during these moments is when you get some of the most tender moments. This is why I am always ready! Candid moments melt my heart!
